How to download YouTube Video? Yes, you imageheard it right, one single step. Seriously, I was just as surprised when I found out. This is truly one excellent example of user-friendliness.

First thing first, open up the YouTube video that you want to download. Let’s use this video as an example, Where the Hell is Matt? (2008). By the way, if you have not seen this video yet, please do so. You’ll not regret it.

Next, look at the URL at the top of the page on your browser. You’ll see the following:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

Now, listen closely as this is the one single step I was talking about. Look closely as I add an additional text to the address above.

What I did was added the word ‘kick’ in front of youtube.com. Now press enter and you’ll come to a new webpage. Here, you’ll see the youtube video again but what you are interested in is the options on top of the page.

You can choose to download the YouTube Video in FLASH (original format) or MP4 format. I recommend you choose MP4. Once selected, click on the Green Go button. That button will then convert to a Blue Down button (I have no idea why) which you have to click again.

Download begins. Save it to your desktop and voila! Flash video downloaded.

Slight Problems

The only workable format for a computer is MP4. If you take a closer look, you’ll see other formats faded out. Which only means it is coming soon, a good thing!

You may have trouble playing the MP4 file with Windows Media Player. But the VLC player can play it just nice.

Another little problem would be why do you need to click the Go button twice. But hey, I am just nitpicking.

Really, One Step Wonder

So the next time you think of downloading any YouTube videos, just add a Kick and you are on your way.

Thank you to http://www.kickyoutube.com/ for an excellent application.

Actually i haven't came across with kickyoutube.com . When i first know Youtube in 2002 - i have the simplest site to download by googling "youtube ripper" and you will find a link to ripzor (www.ripzor.com/youtuberipper.html)!

And if you notice that Real Player version 11 has the ability to download any sites contain video (you can it to appear on the page or right click to download to Real Player).

So downloading youtube isn't a new stuff afterall. Maybe i will blog about this next time haha.
