Recently I have been delving into Digg, Reddit and Delicious. These 3 are categorised
into a concept called the Social Bookmarking.
What is a Social Bookmarking? Well there are 2 key words in this so lets take a look at the easier one first. Bookmarking. If you surf the web, you’ll already know this very well, you pick the webpages you like and then bookmark it so that you will be able to come back to it whenever you want.
But what about Social? It adds more than one people into the equation. So instead of you bookmarking and able to only see your own bookmarks, you can see other people’s bookmark too!
The benefits? You, a single person, can never visit every website out there in your life time. But in combination, everyone in the world can (even that is debatable). So if everyone bookmark only the good webpages, won’t you like to get a hold of that list of bookmarks? Not only that, you would also want to see the pages it is MOST bookmarked. That would mean a lot of people like that webpage and more likely you’ll be interested in it too.
Of course there must be a way to categories all the bookmarks. More on that later.
While I was doing my research, I came across this video that sums up everything there is to know about social bookmarking. So take a look. It is about Delicious, but the concepts apply to any and all social bookmarking. Enjoy.
If you want to add these social bookmarkers onto your Google Blogger/Blogspot, take a look at the step by step guide below to get you started.
