After installing Google Chrome for about a month now, most of us are now finally going to make a decision on which browser to stick to now, right?
Same here. I have decided to stick with Google Chrome but keeping Firefox 3 nearby just in case. After all, Google Chrome isn’t perfect (yet).
Anyway, one of the first things you need to set after ensuring that your bookmarks are copied over, is to set Google Chrome as the default browser for your computer. As far as I know, to do that, you’ll have to go to the taskbar and then change the ‘Internet’ option to Google Chrome. This can be seen with the screen shot to the right.
Imagine my surprise when I tried to do that in Windows Vista. The option is not there! Mr Vista does not play nice with Google Chrome? Or is it just me?
Take a look at the screenshot to the left. I assure you its not edited in any way.
I sure hope that this is an isolated issue and only affects my Vista because if not, Microsoft have a lot of answering to do. Can’t blame it to compatibility because Windows XP is working just fine.
Hmmm .. anybody here with Vista can confirm this for me too?
--- Update ---
Ahh .. after doing a search around the Internet, I came across a solution for this. Apparently it is a ‘privilege issue’. To make Google Chrome appear in the dropdown list above, here is what you need to do:
- Close all Google Chrome
- Right Click on Google Chrome’s .exe file. You can just right click on the shortcut icon too.
- Select ‘Run as Administrator’
- Click ‘Continue’ to accept the warning. A new Google Chrome will open up.
- Go to that Google Chrome’s Option, first tab ‘Basics’
- Click on ‘Make Google Chrome my default Browser’ (at the bottom of the window)
- Now go back to your Task Bar properties and Google Chrome is now an option there
Even we have this solution, its still sends the wrong signals. Why should I jump through hoops just to add other browsers to Windows Vista? I am sure Microsoft’s intension is good, security and all, but it still sends the wrong signals.

basically, i damn benci windows XP and i think google chrome needs to warm up first. ahahaha
mebbe im too used to firefox. lol
but.. flock oso nice
