Hey guys .. I received a good deal of traffic to this particular post (which is rare) so I am wondering if you are getting this link from a forward email?

I cannot pinpoint the origin of the traffic, so I thought I should just ask .. :)

It's the top link on Hacker News right now, that might account for it.

I see, thanks for the info. Actually, the traffic died down a couple of days ago and today, it picked up again.

Thanks to Prakash for the Shout Out.

And please do continue to let me know where are you from. I'll like to return the favor. Thanks much!

It was featured on the Hacker News. One of the best startups-related bookmarking service on the web. Anywhere, it is surprising that there is a malayisan like you who is so concerned about the VC environment in Malaysia. Anyway, nice to meet you. I am Malaysian too. But, currently, I am in US. Feel free to contact me.

@siong1987, hey there and nice to meet you. Yeah .. Hacker News is the one bringing traffic in this time.

Yeah, I am interested in funding because I am those guys that follow the IT news from the US closely. My god the fundings that they get (this is all before the economic downturn recently). Some ideas that the VC funds are ridiculous! But still, they get millions!

I wish we have such facilities here, so that I too can start something on my own :)

Yeah, lets link up. How do I contact you? I don't see any contact information you left behind .. hmmm.

@Laskar You can contact me via siong(1000+987) at hotmail dot com

You can also add me via msn with this email. Anyway, you don't need a VC to start on something. If you were here, you will know in fact there are so many people who hate VC. When I first came here, I thought that once you take VC, you don't have to worry about how your idea will go. And, you may think that you're actually not risking your own money and you can do whatever you want. But, that thought is totally wrong.

Many web application became so successful even without VC. For example, 37signal, Onelist, blogline, delicious, etc. They raised their first rounds almost after they had more than 500k users.

So, try to work on something that might attract users first before thinking on raising capital from VC.

@Siong, I have added you on MSN, lets chat there ya? :)

Yeah .. in US, you have the luxury to hate VC, here, we cannot even find a VC .. haha. Hence, no VC to hate. Hmmm .. interesting world we live in.
